I Have Really Been Reading a Lot of Science Fiction Lately
The last few days I have been going back through my favorite Fantasy and Science Fiction books. I was over at this girl’s apartment last weekend and I happened to see a copy of Philip Jose Farmer’s novela ‘To your scattered bodies go’. I remember when I was 12 or 13 I read that little book in about three or four hours and then I read his entire Riverworld series, which must be something like 5000 or 6000 pages in all. I looked at and I could tell that book had been read a lot of times, so I asked her if she had read all of them. Of course she was a big fan of Alice, the real person who inspired Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland and then became the fictional heroine of the early Riverworld series. She was even a bigger fan of Philip Jose Farmer than I am, which is a pretty big deal.
